This week the students have each written about something they enjoyed doing.  Noel We learned a new website called Scratch these past few weeks were learning how to make our own game. We are all making a ping pong game it was fun, try one of our games if you're brave enough to try and you can also ask your children to make it a bit easier. Try new things with your son our daughter. Itthimun My favorite thing about this week of me making a game. Because it's very fun. We made pongs games. Viphou We had been making scratch for 3 weeks and we have not finish it. Peter This week I make a video game and is called pong pong. And I also do fun run and do epic. We started our second unit of inquiry this week. The students were very engaged in their learning and looking forward to the rest of the unit. Central Idea:  Plants require specific environments and conditions for growth.  Lines of Inquiry: Cycles and characteristics of plants Factor that influence plant growth Ways plants adapt to their environment Key Concepts:  Form Function Causation Related Concepts: Appreciation Curiosity  Prior Knowledge assessment: On Monday students were asked to draw and label a plant. After they had completed this they wrote what plants need to grow. We started looking at the form of a plant. Students label each part of the plant in their mother tongue and this has been displayed in the classroom. The students enjoyed learning the parts of a plant in different languages. With an unexpected shortened week at school we have only 3 and a half days of school left. We have been completing a ice-cream van math project which requires incorporates all the math skills we have learnt this week. We have also been writing about our upcoming summer holidays and taking the time to prepare for change for our leaving students and thinking of ways we can keep in touch with them. As well as this we write letters to next years Grade 2 students with some words of advise and tips. A few weeks ago i made a mini book about dogs. It was called what are dogs? I drew some of the dogs and printed some of the dog photos. I am done the book now and i loved it!!!

In class I made a mini book with Elsa and Helmi it is about dogs we printed pictures and drew pictures to I really enjoyed doing my mini book with my friends!!

UoI Labeling our work We continued to work with Mr Matt and Ms Rachel on Contraption Maker and labeling our work. On Friday we labeled our Rube Goldberg machines using a collaborative Google Slide presentation. Rube Goldberg Machines Since the beginning of the unit the students have been very excited to create their own Rube Goldberg machine. On Tuesday the students started to plan their machine. The machine needed to have at least two simple machines and either get a ball into a cup or trap something. Most groups chose to get a ball in a cup. There were a lot of excellent communication and group work skills shown during this time. We tested the machines on Thursday. Book Creator - Alethea and Itzia We have been working with a partner this unit and have been putting all our art work into book creator. This week we painted a banana and took a photo of it. Then we put the photo in the banana in book creator and recorded our artist statement. At the end of the unit we will publish our book creators on the blog. Picmonkey - Elsa, Helmi, Naomi We used Pic Monkey to change pictures and design new images. You can change the picture to show another feeling. We used Pic Monkey for the front cover of our book on Book Creator. Book Review - Eito, Takuto We wrote a book review to tell others the main part of a book and if it is a good book to read.
