Meaning in Abstract Art- Jona

Image
Art- Grade 2- Unit 4 During this unit, we learned how to use elements of art to create abstract artworks with meaning.  Did you know that artists choose specific lines, shapes, and colors to repeat or emphasize in order to make their artworks more interesting?  Artists can also communicate their personal experiences in abstract art using simple symbols.  We practiced these skills by making our own stamps and printmaking.  We added several layers to our artworks to experiment with how to organize abstract artworks.  Ask me about the meanings of the lines, shapes, colors, emphasis and repetition in my abstract artworks!

Unit 4 - Musical Us (Who are we musically)

My Playlist (describes who I am and what I like) I chose Maps because it has a good beat that I like. I chose Tristam and Braken even if it is computer music. I like computer music. I chose Light it Up because I can dance to it. I chose Lucky Strike because it makes me happy. This song sounds like me because eden part is a feeling that I have My song that I create about myself is: My Composition

Zombie Tag - Jona

When I started the first day of school I didn't know what zombie tag was but then one of my friends told me we could play zombie tag. My friend told me the rules and now I know to play it. Before you start you need to do black and white. The last two have to do rock, paper, scissors to one point who loses is the tagger. The tagger counts to ten then he can try to tag the other people. When the tagger tagged one person that person is the tagger with the first tagger. When everybody is tagged except for one person. The person that is not tagged is the winner. The first person that is tagged is the tagger for the next game. Now I play zombie tag every day at lunch and break. It is fun!

Jona- Art, Unit 3

Art- Grade 2- Unit 3 During our “Responsible Design” unit in art class, we learned about how to think like a designer by using the creative cycle.  We investigated objects and their functions (purposes).  We planned ideas for new objects, considered our audiences and how best to help them.  We created prototypes to show our designs using recycled materials.  We evaluated our designs by sharing with our friends, thinking of ways to improve, or adding new parts to our art pieces.  Here are some photos of my creative process:

Unit 3: Writing Lyrics - Music

For this unit we wrote lyrics for a song.  The song was about one of the learner profile.  Parents came to help us at Spotlight with some ideas for our verses.  Here are my lyrics. Care by Jona We can stand up for each other We say sorry if we do something mean We share things with each other Care for other people Help them if they fall Care about everybody Not only you We can help each other clean up We can help each other if we are stuck on something We can cheer each other up Care for other people Help them if they fall Care about everybody Not only you My learning profile is caring. I wrote this song because some people don’t ask for other people. My song makes me feel happy because maybe when people read my song they will care. My song is good because of what would are in my song.

This unit in art was all about public art.  We found locations around ISPP that needed public art and used the creative cycle to investigate, plan, create and evaluate our own ideas.  Here are some pictures of me exploring how to create public art for our school community.

We have two weeks left of this unit. The students are making great progress in their understanding of the central idea. We will begin our summative assessment towards the end of next week.  Image Editing Math We continued with our inquiry into 2D and 3D shapes. We identified shapes with the saying 'What does the SHAPE say'. Students matched the picture of the shape, the name and the definition of the shape as a whole class and then made their own. We created our own 3D shapes by working out how to make our own nets and folding them into 3D shapes.
