The Kamakutza Catastrophe - A Traveling Tale

Last week we collaborated with 4 other schools in Belgium, Saudi, America and China to write a book based on the UNs Sustainable Development Goal. The books we worked on was on the goal regarding sustainable cities. We wrote the ending to the book. The students enjoyed the opportunity to add to this book and either worked on the pictures, writing the text or recording.

What a week!! This week we celebrated book week with mystery readers, a visiting author, door decorating and a book costume parade. Here are some of our highlights from the week. Monday 10,000 pieces of popcorn I liked seeing the author. I liked it because he was funny. - Leah I liked the assembly, it was fun. - Micah I favourite part of this week was when it was the author coming to the black box and showed us popcorn. How We Organize Ourselves - Week 1

Dear Parents,  We have started our How We Organize Ourselves unit. The Central Idea is: "Humans prepare and respond to changes in the Earth."  If either yourself or someone you know has any experience with working for organizations who do this type of work or you have personally experienced an Earthquake, Landslide, Volcano or Tsunami and would like to be a guest speaker in our class please let me know. Students love the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and can learn so much from them.  Provocation We started our new unit on Wednesday with a provocation. While the students were at Foreign Language or Mother Tongue lesson we messed up the classroom and their bags. There was paper, books, pencils and furniture everywhere. We recorded the students as they returned to class and wanted to see how their felt and what their response to the situation was. Who We Are - Week 5

It was wonderful to see everyone in their house T-shirts for the assembly this morning. UoI In UoI this week we created posters on what we know about the brain. The students worked in pairs to discuss their knowledge and make the poster. They have learnt a lot over the past few weeks on what the brain does, what it looks like, the parts of the brain and our responsibility to keep the brain healthy. We continued to add information to our brainstorming of what we know about how we grow and learn. We also started our summative assessments this week. Students have begun reflecting on what they have learnt this unit. Next week they will add their assessment to Seesaw for you to see. Math Here are some photos from math this week.
