Who we are - Week 1

Image
What an amazing week we have had in Grade 2. The students have all settled in so well, we welcomed three new students to ISPP on Monday, Akrai, Seb and Leah. The students have started swimming, PE, Art and Music lessons. They have also begun their foreign language or Mother tongue classes. In the classroom we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other, learning how to use Seesaw and setting up routines for the year. Thank you for coming to the Hopes and Concerns meetings over Thursday and Friday. These are valuable meetings and I appreciate your openness and honesty during them. On Wednesday we celebrated Molly's 7th Birthday! Happy Birthday Molly.

We had a wonderful start to the school year this week. Students quickly settled into school, enjoyed seeing their friends again and participated in some different activities to start off the year.  Please have a look at the student's pages on the right to see their photo from the first day of school and a reflection they did today.

G2 and G3 students are participating in an art exhibition with five other international schools in Phnom Penh.  The exhibition is a fundraiser to develop collaborative arts programs among international and local schools next year. ISPP students have created five art pieces about "unity" that will be available for purchase via an art auction on April 30.  One of these is by the students in our class! Come and have a look. See the flyer for more information.

Our Action Song

Our Action song we sung at assembly. Students worked together to create the lyrics and actions to the song to perform at the Grade 2 assembly on Action earlier this year. A remixed version of "One Thing" written by Savan Kotecha, Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub for the group "One Direction"

Ready, Set, Design

Ready, Set, Design is a design challenge to enhance collaboration and creativity. Students were placed in groups of 3, each group received the same materials, 2 pieces of paper to use as surface items, 3 rubber bands to use as fasteners and 3 popsicle sticks to use as structure items. Each group received a different challenge card. They had 5 minutes to brainstorm ideas and 18 minutes to create their design.

This week we were very lucky to attend the Grade 5 PYP Exhibition. On Wednesday morning the students went to the Black Box Theatre and watched some excellent dance, songs and plays as well as looking at art work, sculpture, and a documentary. The Grade 2 students left feeling inspired and had some excellent questions about some of the issues mentioned at the Exhibition. The Grade 10 students have been busy creating a play to show the Grade 2 students. On Friday morning we had the opportunity to view the play. The play was excellent! Afterwards the Grade 2 students provided the Grade 10's with some good feedback. In the classroom we started preparing for the Student Led Conferences. The students are working hard to ensure you will get to see what they have been learning this semester. Student Led Conferences are an excellent opportunity to come into the classroom and spend time with your child and discuss their learning. The Conferences are next Friday 1st April. The times...
