Field Trip Reflections

A short week packed with learning and a field trip. The students gained so much from the field trip and made some wonderful connections in their understanding of Cambodia in the past and now. The students have shown a real interest in Angkor Wat, Vann MolyVann and the Khmer Empire. We will continue to explore these over the next few weeks. 

Field Trip

The field trip to the Bophana Centre, National Museum and Olympic Stadium was a great opportunity for students to find out more about Cambodia. They were able to watch National achieves at the Bophana Centre and see many artifacts at the museum. The students climbed the stairs into Olympic Stadium and were in awe of the size and structure of it. Some students reflected on the field trip using academic sentence starters to help their thinking.

After our field trip when I think about the history of Phnom Penh I feel that I want to learn about the history some more.

Our field trip was to the Bophana Center and National Museum in the Phnom Penh in the past there were old cars and there were no tall buildings but now there is new cars and tall buildings.

In Phnom penh in the past there were lot of artefacts that were found but now not as many artefacts are being found.

After our field trip, when I think about the history of phnom penh, I feel happy because I learn a lot about artifacts.

On Thursday we went to the Olympic Stadium, National Museum and Bophana Center. One new idea our field trip gave me about the history of phnom penh was the old statues.

I choose the National Museum because of our field trip. I now think the museum has a lot of old sculptures, statues, artefacts made from stone.

Yesterday we went to Bophana Center and the National Museum for our field trip. It was fun and I learned a lot! This is a photo of our field trip. Because of our field trip now I think that Cambodia was religious.

Spotlight on the Arts and Open Classroom

Next Thursday 9th February 2016 is the Grade 2 Spotlight on the Arts. Your child has bought an invitation home. Please come along and learn more about what your child is doing in Art and Music. Before the Spotlight on the Arts start the classroom will be open for you to visit with your child. You will be able to look at their work from our current unit of inquiry and complete an activity the students often do to encourage thinking.

Items from home

Please do not encourage your child to bring any toys or items from home. If they do it is best if your child places the item on my desk during the day for safe keeping. There is more information on this in the Parent Handbook.
