Where we are in Place and Time - Week 2
The students were fabulous at assembly this week. They all did a wonderful job presenting, singing, and being on stage throughout the assembly.

We are only two weeks into this unit of inquiry and the students have began to observe artifacts closely and think about what they may have been used for, who might have used them and where as well as how the artifacts can help us to understand Cambodia.
On Monday we did an 'archaeological dig' in the sand pit. The students first had to decide the best way to complete the dig. The sectioned the sandpit off and worked on different sections. During the dig we all stopped when an artifact was found to record where we found it. After the dig we looked at each object and found clues about where the artifact might be from and who may have used it.
Then on Thursday our assistances showed the students artifacts from Cambodia that were special to their families. The students had many questions to ask and learnt a lot about our assistances and Cambodia during this time. A lot of the students were able to make connections to items in their own families.
We have also been presenting and displaying the personal artifacts the students researched for home learning. Thank you for your help in supporting your child's home learning, it is much appreciated.
Buddies
We continued to work on our passion projects with our buddies. Next week we will begin making the projects.
Pajama Day
The student council held their first successful pajama day at school the week.
Field Trip - Thursday 2nd February

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Lunar New Year!

Field Trip - Thursday 2nd February
Students bought a slip of paper with the following information home on Friday:
On Thursday 2nd February our Grade 2 classes will be visiting the National Museum, Bophana Audio Visual Centre, Olympic Stadium and observing Vann Molyvann and French colonial architecture. The visit is part of our inquiry:
“Evidence from the past helps us to understand the place we live.”
We will travel by school bus and leave ISPP at 8 am and return at approx. 1:30 pm. Children who have school lunch will be given a packed lunch on that day. Students bringing home lunch are reminded their child must bring their lunch to school with them that morning (no fizzy drinks or sweets please).
Students can bring a small, healthy snack and their water bottle. Students do not need any money for this field trip.
We would like all students to wear their ISPP PE kit and hat that day.
Grade 2 Team
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Lunar New Year!
