Field Trip - Playground

So much fun was had at the playground this morning. The students had fun playing together on the equipment and creating their own games. The field trip also provided a wonderful learning opportunity for the students to learn about simple machines. Students were naming the simple machine while playing on the equipment and encouraging each other to "use more force" and making comments such as "you need more momentum to get across". For some students I am not sure if they will look at a see-saw as just a see-saw again. They were discussing the location of the fulcrum and what would happen if it moved or different weights were on either side.

When we were back in the classroom we reflected on what we saw and did at the playground by drawing pictures. Over the next week we will turn these pictures into the background for a green screen and each student will present what they discovered at the playground.
