How We Organize Ourselves - Week 5
We concluded our How We Organize Ourselves unit this week. When reflecting on what the students learnt in such a short time it is very impressive. Next week I will share the summative assessment feedback with you on Seesaw. Students will be showing you their infographic at their 3 way conference next Tuesday.
We finishing the unit with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) challenge. Students working in small groups to create an Earthquake proof house using 1 piece of cardboard, some toothpicks and clay. All students had the same supplies and the same amount of time to build a 2 story structure. We tested their structures in a dish of jelly.
During the week they published one of their pieces of writing and recorded it to Seesaw.

International Day
If you haven't signed up for the Parade of Nations or to host a country booth and you are interested in doing this, please make sure you sign up.
3 Way Conferences
Conferences are next Tuesday. You should have received a letter from the youngest child in the family this week with your time. If you haven't received this please let me know.
At the conference you must attend with your child. There will be supervision in the playground for siblings waiting for their conference.
Students only attend school during their conference time on Tuesday.
Last Day of Semester
Friday the 15th December is the last day of the semester, school will finish at 11:45. An assembly will be held at 7:45.

3 way conference planning
We have been preparing the the 3 way conference next week. Students have been selecting work samples, refining reading goals and reflecting on their successes this semester and areas to improve on next semester.
Buddies
With their Grade 5 buddies the students are in the middle of creating an iMovie trailer connected to both the Grade 2 and 5 unit of inquiry.
Procedure writing
We spent time this week writing our own procedure writing. One of the procedures the students wrote was a recipe for fairy bread. Once they had completed their writing they each made a piece of fairy bread.
